just another random ass day in a series of random ass days. or as i’ve seen mentioned, “winged baby wielding projectiles day”. whatthefuckever, also: meh.
yesterday was a 12-hour day of too much to do and not enough time to do it in; also: murphy’s law attacking with a motherfuckin’ vengeance. like i ran over its dog or some shit. and i’m still slogging through a whole mess of shit today, just tryin’ tryin’ tryin’ to get through it all. and time is just d r a g g i n g into the long weekend looming on the horizon. i need it like, now, man. just sleeping and unpacking and trying to acquaint myself with the living room i’ve hardly used.
two years of being confined to basically just my bedroom has made me awkward in my own house. i read and listen to music in the bedroom and have yet to explore the cozy comforts of my own living room. i’ll just have to get used to it, i guess. and i’m totally looking forward to it.
maybe tomorrow i’ll buy some totally reduced-price chocolate and camp out on the faux-couch. watch some dvds or something. of course i know i’m holding off on setting up the living room completely because of the cable/internet dude coming in this weekend. i want to make sure he/she/it has room to work and stuff. i can’t settle yet.
and i don’t think i really even registered what today was until this morning. maybe…kind of. only once i got at work and opened up the ol’ firefox. red & pink & nauseating…meh. it’s wednesday, for fuck’s sake.
i do think it’s funny, though, how a random archaeological find has been adorned with some “romantic” significance just due to the proximity to Consumer Spending Holiday #2’s date & that of its discovery. then again, skeletal remains are a nice change from the general fluff & nausea of today.
They’re calling it the eternal embrace. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, archaeologists in Italy have discovered a couple that have been buried 5,000 to 6,000 years. What makes this find unique is that they were found embracing. A pair of human skeletons lie in an eternal embrace at an Neolithic archaeological dig site near Mantova, Italy, in this photo released February 6, 2007. Archaeologists in northern Italy believe the couple was buried 5,000-6,000 years ago, their arms still wrapped around each other in a hug that has lasted millennia.
i wonder if hallmark will co-opt this, too? maybe a new line of greeting cards? or little skeleton chocolates in a makeshift tomb/box…only $49.95 (plus s&h) at your nearest store! act now, supplies are limited! as you can see, i’m still disappointed that this day isn’t commemorated with decapitations like it should be.
mmmm…i don’t have a headache yet, but the day is yet young.
