the 2007 draft has started, oaktown has first round draft picks throughout — the only benefit of a truly and completely special as shit season, really.
#1 draft pick for 2007 nfl draft and the raiders: jamarcus russell
this LSU junior is freaking huge, motherfuckin’ huge. ginormous…and yet, a quarterback. the hell? 6’6″, 263 lbs. and an arm like a god damned nuclear missile. he is a giant, monstrous hunk of football player which is both a good and bad thing. on the one hand, he can withstand hits and virtually tower above most players in strength and stature. on the other hand, do you really need a huge ass quarterback? and you don’t want him to get so bulky that it could impact agility on the field.
also, after the 2-14 season (ouch) the raiders need someone with the strength, power and experience. someone to help turn the franchise around and build it up to the silver & black greatness i know and love. mr. russell (wtf does jamarcus mean anyway) is just a tad too green to have any real impact. will he start in the preseason? in regular season? do they really want to put everything on the shoulders of this one (huge!) kid?
i don’t know, man…i don’t know. lord knows oakland is hurting for someone who can really, finally, help them out. but i’m just not 100% that the intimidation power — and pure throwing power — of this kid is exactly what the team needs.
only time will tell, i’m sure.
at the very least: the boy looks good in black.
