we head to karl’s sausage kitchen!
well, not entirely, but i did end up driving past the famed sausage kitchen twice this weekend. and that was fabulous enough for me.
after a completely bullshit week and everything else, saturday night rocked my socks right off. rocked so hard my ears were ringing for HOURS after, and i still found confetti in my shoes this morning. kick-ass! it was, by far, the very best ROADSTEAMER show ever…ever! in the world! campaign for real time totally tore it up in the opener (i missed fluttr effect and the snow leopards, oh well) and now i really want to see them again. in fact, they’re going to be at the middle east on july 27th and i’m going to have to look into tickets. they’d totally be worth it.
after c4rt appropriately rocked out — i absolutely loved their “dude crew” — i was nothing but insane nerves waiting for ROADSTEAMER to come onstage. beforehand i got nick, ray, pete and robby to sign my cd. i’ve had every cd signed so far, starting initially with just robby and then moving on to include other band members as well.
before i joined the street steamers, it seems, they were far less accessible. or maybe, i was just too damned shy. a mix of the two, actually, since all the band members are really sweet and approachable.
i even saw robby’s dad — in original sweatpants boners t-shirt — before the show. and i snagged a kick-ass roadsteamer tank top and button pack (one for me and one for stephen), yay merch! chip and diver and [name i forgot] showed up too, and the crowd was surprisingly awesome and chill. also, the costumes were HILARIOUS! once i figure out how to make my gallery and camera behave i’m totally putting up the freaking HUNDREDS of picture i took.
and did i mention the costumes? because they were ricockulous awesome. the crowd was incredibly amazing and ROADSTEAMER rocked out so freaking hard. they played so many of my favorite songs: “the hand i beat dogs with”, “we drink in the pit tonite”, “i’m sorry your cat has ass cancer”, “duck hunt”. oh my god and they played pete’s song, “fallen (and i don’t want to get back up)”, too! it was kick ass!
i don’t think i’ve ever been to a better ROADSTEAMER show, nor have i ever had so much unbelievable fun. the crowd, the costumes, the lights, the sounds, the TOTAL FUCKIN’ RAWWWWWKKKKKKKK!!!! it was AMAZING! i love the entire band so much it’s insane. and i’m totally and completely in love with jay now (bass player) — he rocks out so hardcore it’s unbelievable. and i was SO CLOSE the entire time! yay!
i swear i resisted all major urges to reach out and touch the instruments/band members. although a few times pete was really freakin’ close and rockin’ out really freakin’ hard…but i behaved (kind of)! i only wish the boy could’ve been there to see a really awesome show — he would’ve liked c4rt, i think — and enjoyed the awesome crowd and seen what ROADSTEAMER is really like when they’re so on pointe. of course, i know i’m a bit biased since i think they’re always on pointe, but still. it would’ve been nice to share it.
best part: nick got me on stage for the show closer of “i put a baby in you”. in fact, nearly EVERYONE got to frolick onstage and join in some totally awesome rockin’ out!then again, my friends were there and i had a total fucking absolute BLAST. so whatevs!
rockin’ out with my COCK OUT!
and i got to sing and dance around with the awesome dude from c4rt! even better. and everyone was just so nice and friendly and all obviously in love with the ROADSTEAMER that it was just such a fuckin’ blast i can’t even begin to explain it all. seriously, probably the best concert experience i’ve had all year. yes, yes, i know les claypool is awesome and much more of a musically proficient show, and lcd soundsytem rocks the house, but this show had everything. the crowd, the environment, the music, the atmosphere, the whole shebang. no douchey assholes, no oppressive/stifling heat sucking the life out of you, no shitty venue. it was fucking awesomeness in concert form and i’d give my left nut to do it all over again. really, i’m such a concert whore. they’re always the best thing in my life.
i came home totally punch drunk and dehydrated, it was awesome.
sunday, after we dragged ourselves out of bed, the boy & i actually drove all the way to maine! we didn’t even get lost or eaten by bears or anything!
i have a total love for road trips — even more now that it’s my car and i can go wherever i want — and have been wanting to check out maine for freaking ever.
it was gorgeous.
bloody fucking gorgeous and the weather was unbelievably perfect. oh my god, and the beach! the beach was amazing and i got shells and pictures (god damned my stupid camera, it’s not working right now and i can’t pull the beach pictures) and we frolicked. i even had a root beer float, which i haven’t had in about 5 forevers, and it was delicious. though, not something i want to make a habit out of because OMGSWEET! so sweet.
i cannot wait to go to maine again. it was fabulous and most importantly: NOT MASSACHUSETTS!
so.fucking.important.
i think…i’m almost certain: great weekend.
