it’s no secret that i wish we could’ve stayed in maine longer. though, this mini-vacation was exactly what i needed to just rest, recharge and fuckin’ deal with the world right now. the weather outside is weatherwas gorgeous, the trip was relaxing, and maine is fantastic.
we got a bit of beach time every day, but there wasn’t any swimming this time. granted, i’m so glad we managed to get out there one more time but it was pretty late in the season. however, if i lived in maine i’d spend every day getting in some beach time, even if for a few minutes.
the sun was bright and the air was crisp and clean. and aside from the surprise dead baby seal, the beach was beyond fantastic. if i thought i wouldn’t have frozen my balls off, i totally would have gone swimming. but again, BALL FREEZING WATER. except for along the shoreline, where we spent plenty of time wading in the waves.
the nice thing about this trip is we had a hotel right in the center of town (with the BIGGEST BED KNOWN TO MAN!) and therefore only had to walk or take the trolley to explore ogunquit. that saved a lot of money on parking and allowed me to get pleasantly squiffed during one of our dinners out. thank god for not having to be the designated driver, because a vacation just ain’t a vacation without booze!
we ventured up route one for a scenic drive and some random exploring. it was pretty awesome and i unearthed a totally surprise comic book store (2nd kickass comic book store we’ve discovered since we started going to maine). also: dairy queen every day, the way it should be. and another discovery on the trip was this nifty mini car:
of course, i am limited to the pictures i have of our splendid trip because i forgot my camera battery at home like a dumbass. still, that doesn’t take away from the fact that everything was fantastic. and i can’t wait to go back. all in all, though, summer definitely went out with a bang.
