this morning i noticed there’s some construction going on behind great scott’s (toward the brookline end of allston) that i had not been aware of before. apparently, they’re going to build an urban outfitters there (and note just how much the allston public loves that idea…). which? ok, i guess. i mean there’s a tjmaxx two doors down and all the filthy hipster kids will be confused if there’s yet another place to get woefully distressed, worn-in, hobo-esque clothes with pithy saying son them…i mean, we have urban renewals and a freaking goodwill so…is there really a need for yet ANOTHER place to get clothes that look as if they’re ready to fall apart at the seams the first time you put them on?
although, i guess the one thing urban outfitters has different than all the other hipster uniform acquisition stores is that while their clothes are crappily made and will still most likely fall upart at the seams the instant you put them on…they cost more. a whole fuck lot more. so, you know, you could get a shirt that looks like you dug it out of a dumpster practically anywhere in allston. or in a few short months you can trot on down to urban outfitters and pay $95.99 for a shirt that looks like you dug it out of a dumpster.
spiffy, right?
