but if george w. bush had his way, it would be. accoring to dubya, that’s the way america should be and that’s his intention with operation iraqi oilthe war on “terrorism”.
i guess ol’ georgie never played any team sports in high school or at yale, eh? i mean, if i think back to the things that ol’ coach shiplet & coach hiltz used to drill into my head one of the fundamental tenents of any sport (be it basketball or soccer or volleyball) is “the best offense is a good defense”.
and it’s true.
it doesn’t matter how aggressive your offense is if you’re letting the other team score on you like a $2 hooker in chinatown. what’s the fucking point, right? you have to have a strong defense, so that you’re not vulnerable while wearing the other team down and gettin’ your own game on. it’s a very elementary concept. i mean, fuck…elementary students grasp this. but apparently our commander in chief cannot wrap his little monkey brain around this.
and i admit, i am not a die-hard kerry fan. in fact, i don’t endear myself to any politician, because i’m very anti-politics. i find the bureacracy of it all to be plain nauseating. republican, democrat…whatever…
so yeah, i’ve always had this lackadaisical attitude towards the government and elections but the older i get (ugh, that sounds so trite and retarded) the more i’m aware of how these things directly affect my life & the lives of my friends and family.
so last night i watched the debates in the holmes jcr with jetta & a bunch of teh pfoho. a brief synopsis from salon.com:
In Thursday night’s encounter at the University of Miami, Bush and Kerry drew heavily on oft-repeated lines from their campaign speeches but they faced each other directly across the same stage for the first time.
Bush appeared irritated when Kerry leveled some of his charges, scowling at times and looking away in apparent disgust at others. Kerry often took notes when the president spoke. The television networks offered a split screen to viewers so they could see both men at the same time and watch their reactions.
On Iraq, Bush criticized Kerry for saying it was the wrong war at the wrong time in the wrong place. “What message does that send to our troops?” the president said. “Not a message a commander in chief gives.”
Repeating a line he has used countless times to show his opponent is inconsistent, Bush tweaked Kerry for saying he voted for an $87 billion spending bill for Iraq and Afghanistan before he voted against it.
Kerry shot back, “Well, you know, when I talked bout the $87 billion, I made a mistake in how I talk about the war. But the president made a mistake in invading Iraq. Which is worse?”
yes, it did appear that kerry’s face was melting off of his skull and all that. and there were a few parts where he was redundant. but overall, he opened a can of whup-ass on george w. bush just by having a rudimentary grasp of the concepts of intelligent discourse. and over a 6th grade reading level.
the consistent back-tracking, whining and question evasion by our “president” made me feel even more uneasy about just where we are as a nation right now. jetta says she seriously will leave if bush wins the election this year. i’m afraid she’s not playin’.
it’s that crucial, yo.
meh.
