today was a great day…or rather, yesterday, i suppose.
actually, this whole weekend has been pretty spiffy. it started with playing basketball with jetta (note: dadu has a small ball) and watching the first ghost in the shell in the wolbach common room before heading to the master’s open house. then i frolicked off to job #2 to get this computer shit under control. and that lead to scooter picking me up at the dorms and us heading off to watch shaun of the dead and patronizing IHOP at 1 am.
fantabulous.
and today, after meeting jetta downstairs for what the d-hall was trying to pass off as brunch, we headed to porter square cuz i needed to pick up an october T pass. it was gorgeous weather, so it was perfect for a leisurely walk down to porter. i got my T pass at shaws and when we were heading back towards the porter stop so we could catch a train to kendall this hobo asked me for a lighter — which i uncharacteristically did *not* have on me — and it was absolutely hilarious:
hobo: hey gorgeous, you got a lighter?
me: uh…no…
jetta: [laughter]
hobo: well, that’s okay…cuz you’re pretty as shit.
me: uhhhhh….
and then we flounced off to the T stop laughing our asses off. i mean, seriously, just *how* pretty is shit? and i feel i should be somewhat insulted by that, but it was just so fucking hilarious. it’s like, *every* time we head out somewheres, all hell breaks loose and something hella insane occurs. not that i’m complaining, mind you…it makes life fun. like seeing an old dude speeding down broadway totally blastin’ mase on his car stereo…breathe, stretch, shake, go. hilarity.
so we went to see ghost in the shell 2:innocence again. because it is *that* amazing of a movie. seriously. i mean, you’d think that i would’ve been prepared for it, having seen it once already, but it still doesn’t fail to take my breath away. the opening sequence & credits alone are just so stunning, that i’m floored. it’s just such a well-done, gorgeous movie. and the story is engaging…
i mean, they could take away all the dialog of the piece and i would still be absolutely enthralled. it’s interesting to see it again after jetta and i watched the first movie over again. and even so, after seeing the stand-alone complex series that aragorn bought. batou is a bit more goofy and whatnot in the tv series, and even moreso in the manga (which i have to borrow one of these days…). and i can’t help but draw a comparison between the ghost in the shell movies and neuromancer. slowly i’m becoming a william gibson fan, and i view ghost in the shell as kind of a visual representation of the movies.
why wasn’t the matrix this cool? (of course i mean, after the first one…of course)
in other news, i have an eyepatch now. and am a pirate.
word.
