I understand your moral objection. I was raised Catholic.
My question to you is: If you are basing your prejudices on what was written in the Bible, what happened to all the humans that lived during the 150,000 or so years before Christianity? Are they immoral or rotting in hell because they didn’t follow the tenets set forth in the Bible?
What happens to the gay men who are revered in certain cultures? How about cultures where there is ritualized homosexuality?
i was raised catholic & am a practicing catholic & whatnot, and totally know the religious objections towards homosexuality. however, there are a great number of things about the catholic RELIGION that don’t necessarily sit right with me, whereas i take my FAITH very seriously — and they’re really separate things entirely.
that said, i don’t personally have moral objections or whatevercakes towards gays or gays getting married or anything like that. eff that. myself, i wouldn’t be in a non-hetero relationship because that’s not my thing…just like i’d never expect a gay person to be in a hetero relationship for the sake of conforming to christ knows what stoopid “standards” society has set forth. the question of sexuality is way too publicized, IMHO, it’s personal…ya heard. however, i have a HUGE objection towards government involvement in people’s relationships. that bugs me to no end. i think that’s one of the things people should be able to do without interference. all these political figures spouting these long, drawn-out declarations about preserving the ‘sanctity of marriage’ is down right laughable. a man & a woman can totally fuck up a marriage beyond belief just as easily as a man & a man or a woman & a woman could (presumably)…it’s not a sex-based thing. people suck, people are fucked up, sometimes people hook up for the wrong reasons and stay together far too freaking long and damn near ruin each other regardless of their sexual orientation. i feel like not enough people are acknowledging that.
ok…i’ll shut up now. anyway, that’s this girl’s opinion. i think homosexuality is WRONG for ME, but what people do is up to them. there are WORSE things in the world, you know. seriously. and like, people get DOGS married…fucking DOGS, but two people in love can’t get married? fuck that! (tm midget) i so hate our government, so *much*.
