(advanced apology to the midget, before i begin. hee!)
so last night i EXPLODED with glee over the NIN show. it was so.fucking.awesome. i wish there had’ve been a mosh pit, though. that is the only thing that would’ve made it better. but of course, the fleet center (bank north of your mom whatever they’re calling it now…) is full of concert nazi bastards and of course try to make it as unpleasant as possible — which is like, virtually impossible considering nine freaking inch freaking nails was playing! HELLO PEOPLE, STOP TRYING TO FUCK WITH AWESOMENESS!
my concert buzz lasted well into mid-day today, for serious.
and they played all the new stuff i love, plus all the old stuff i love, plus rocking the fuck out!!!! and trent reznor is still one of my future baby daddies. he may be 40 years old, but he can still totally rock out with his cock out!
of course, as i’ve been binging on concerts left and right, i’m starting to realize that boston isn’t really a music-friendly setting. there’s virtually no opportunities for quality hip hop shows, festivals of musical glee are limited, club venues are assy and lame and also suck big floppy donkey dick (see also: the avalon), small hole in the wall places only really get local groups or obscure no-names (which can also be awesome, don’t get me wrong), and the large arena/stadium/etc. venues are totally ill-suited for music. the orpheum has shitty acoustics, the avalon is more concerned with their shitty club nights than they are shows, paradise is ok but has a limited offering most times, the middle east (depending on which one) is either poorly organized or has crappy sound, the roxy is ok sometimes, axis rarely has stuff, and the fleet center is full of nazi bastards. though the fleet boston pavillion is nice, but can be bad in crappy weather.
it’s just…between the T’s assy schedule and a lack of decent venues with competent sound people, boston doesn’t seem to be all that conducive to concerts. which is funny, considering the sheer onslaught of shows i have been lucky enough to see as of late. in fact, i have two more to go to this year! and i’m not complaining, every single one i have been to is just fucking awesome in every way.
music is my crack
my heroin
my god damned drug of choice
and i wouldn’t have it any other way, really. you know, so long as i can still drink myself silly, i’m all set.
so yes, this fall has rocked my face so hard…and it just goes to show you how awesome concerts are, when they can take some shithole arena like the fleet center and turn it into a hardcore rockfest of absolute fantasmagoric glee…you fucking know that the true power of rock can conquer all.
you know, in my pants.
