i must’ve been hit by another WHAM!BANG! of nostalgia…and who knows, maybe i’ll completely give into it and actually go get the dvd or something.
for clarification, it must be known that my favoritest movie of all time (from ages 3-14) was/is dumbo. i *heart* dumbo. it was my favorite, favorite, favoritest when i was a little kid, seriously. possibly even — gasp — favorite-er than winnie the pooh (i said possibly!). and my unending love of dumbo is probably the girliest moment i’ll ever have. he’s just sooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute! and as much as i hate to admit it: when i was wee, dumbo made me cry.
i don’t even know why know, i just know that i totally freaking loved this movie. so much so that i just had to have my own stuffed elephant to cart around when i was a kid. and i did get one, it was awesomely croched and given to me by my gram. i loved the hell out of that thing; even though i had a few other stuffed elephants, it was always my favorite.
elephant love came before monkey love, actually. i had these little shelves in my room with all my elephant knick-knacks. figurines, wood carvings, glass statuettes, minatures & toys. i don’t remember exactly WHY i was so into elephants, but i do know it started with dumbo. and i had so many of them.
i think they’re all gone now (except for my favorite stuffed toy), but it’s weird to remember just how into them i was.
i should look for some of them when i’m home at christmas…but i doubt i’ll find anything.
Heard a rubber band
Seen a needle that winked its eye
But I been done seen about everything
When I see an elephant fly.
