the girl was fucking fourteen!!!! years old! and they took turns raping her? then waited and plotted to kill her family? mother, father, six-fucking-year-old sister? and for what?! for what purpose? and no, you can’t blame something like this on the harshness of being in the war. i don’t care how much war fucks up a solider’s head, that’s no reason to stop behaving like a fucking human being.
and they don’t know if they’ll pursue the death penalty or not? he was discharged on a fucking personality disorder?!?!?! so…if you’re an iraqi woman…it’s not rape and murder it’s a personality disorder?! ok, i know i’m drawing straws there…but flip it for a second: america is invaded, or no, even better…an american tourist is in her hotel room in another country when foreign soliders storm in. they rape her, they mock & humiliate her, and then they kill her. you fucking know it would be about 0.2 seconds before we ended up bombing the shit out of said country in retaliation. less, even.
i don’t…i don’t even know anymore. i’m so disgusted. outraged. repulsed. and shamed. shamed for the country as a whole.
the more stories like these pile up, the higher the iraqi death toll climbs (civilian & military alike), the more it becomes apparent that we can never make up for the atrocities we have committed as a nation. there just isn’t time enough in the world to heal the wounds we’ve inflicted upon the nation of iraq & it’s people.

one of the few — few — redeeming factors of downtown boston, one of the very few places worth going is the wang center. (heh, wang)
they do free movies over the holidays, classic movies. and i’ll always love the peaceful tranquility of sitting in the balcony watching audrey hepburn rock it all in “breakfast at tiffany’s” — which is one of my favorite movies ever.
and the ballet, i do so love the ballet (i bet you wouldn’t think so, huh?) but i really really love good ballet. i went to see “romeo & juliet” and the taming of the shrew with a former “friend”. but i’ve always had such a soft spot for “romeo & juliet” since i was a silly 12-year-old. i love the hell out of that play, movie, ballet — almost as much as i do “much ado about nothing”.
then former crappy friend & i went with another person i’d sooner not remember to see “some like it hot” and actually met tony curtis. that was pretty spiffy, as he is a crazy ol’ famous dude.
all of these things, good and bad, great and small…happened at the wang.
but now this:

everything that could be historic or landmark-ish or whatever is being taken over by corporations, namely banks. and the city is greedy and stupid, and letting it happen.
