this weekend started on wednesday…seriously…on wednesday. after being at the office entirely too fucking early, i was completely exhausted. then the boy and i took kristin + laila to the vet downtown. my car has officially survived city driving in boston proper. and i am so totally not going to make a habit of that. fuckin’ streets with their poorly labeled bullshit. ugh.
later, ben made delicious pork for dinner (mad props to all boys out there who can cook and rock at it) and we all watched superbad. then i took over teh official duties of caretaking of teh kitteh. luckily, despite a rough start, laila is a totally awesome kitty. so fluffyful and playful and nice.
thursday was full of nothing but sleep, sleep and MOAR SLEEP. it was awesome, because the whole time i was in colorado i didn’t really sleep. god i missed my bed. there’s really nothing like curling up with your own damned pillows and blankets, you know? after a mid-afternoon wakening, the boy and i slowly made our way into the world. getting ready for a productive thanksdrinking holiday. a quick bus ride to charlies for the annual thanksdrinking vittles plus a whole lotta liquor. mmmm liquor. on the way back we fed and played with kitty and peeked into some local allston bars.
let it be known henceforth that our house is by far the best bar in the entire world. it wasn’t crowded, the staff is lovely, there was FREE BOOZE and cupcakes. how can you beat that? no really, how?! absolutely fabulous and if i could i would totally live there forever and for always.
after we left our house, the rest of the night is a little hazy. god bless alcohol.
surfacing sometime on friday not a whole hell of a lot was done other than kitty-sitting duties. it was cold, i was tired and possibly still slightly drunk, and since the rest of the world was busy being eaten by black friday shopping, we decided to avoid civilization entirely. of course, an exception was made for the comic store, but practically nobody goes in there anyway. so it was safe.
best part of the day, though? putting up the christmas tree! it’s all mine and totally awesome! i have pretty, white sparkle lights and some completely awesome ornaments for the tree this year.
in the past, i only had a handful of ornaments for the tree, it wasn’t completely mine, you know. but now nipple-less hulk and co. are being joined by sparkly, shatter-proof balls and bells; shiny silver garland and a whole set of pool ball ornaments. i’m very excited. and the best part is that lola has pretty much outgrown her “OMG I MUST DESTROY ALL!” stage. sure, she’s interested in the tree, but she’s not hellbent on destruction.
all in all, it’s pretty awesome. plus, i have a christmas tree!
