next week i’m flying back to colorado again. this year i vowed to make fewer trips to the armpit of america; and yet, that totally hasn’t happened. circumstances out of my control have set me towards the arkansas valley more times than i’d like to count at this point. the novelty of travel has completely worn off.
however, in this once instance, it was long since planned and looked forward too. i mean, how often is it that one of your nearest and dearest gets married? for me, practically never, as dear ol’ robbie is the first. which of course means i’m entering that realm of being old enough that my friends are pairing off and getting married, starting families, growing up and whatnot. or some such shit.
and of course, there are a large number of kids i grew up with who are/have been married a long time with children even (which is ironic considering just.how.small. my graduating class was). but, i don’t like the bulk of them and they totally don’t count.
robbie and baus, however, they count. i love them so muchly. muchly and muchly…with love.
i just can’t believe it’s actually happening. i keep thinking ‘you’re not old enough to get married!!!’ because i sure as hell don’t feel old enough for things like that. or to have “married friends”…definitely, definitely a surreal feeling. lord help me if they breed, i will be completely apoplectic in my disbelief.
of course, you know what they say…once it starts you have to wonder who’s next….
gravy? brub? kimmers?
