am i all that different from last year? dunno, i wouldn’t necessarily say so. i’m still disillusioned with the new england region (bostonians especially), the government and the world as a whole. i still have the same goals, and desires. i still have the same joys and sorrows. no, scratch that one, i have a lot more sorrow these days. a lot more sadness. i figure, though, that’s just part of growing up, growing older. your days are tinged in loss and sadness, your world is colored in grief. unavoidable fact.
the last year hasn’t been all bad, not exactly. there were many good times to be had, many fun memories made. it definitely was a harder year than most, but oh well. the one thing about birthdays is, for me, they’re always on the downslope of the summer and then i have but a precious few weeks left before fall (read: “sleety, rainy, hellish cold” in boston) gives way to the icy winter. it really is, in almost every way, the death of a summer. every summer.
i should maybe be a bit more cheerful, yeah? i mean, honestly the past few days have been fabulous. i spent time with my loved ones and much good food, good booze, and good times were had. so really, how can you go wrong with that?

movies i saw (in theatres): the simpsons movie, superbad, 30 days of night, sweeney todd, alien vs. predator, run fatboy run, you don’t mess with the zohan, iron man, the incredible hulk, forgetting sarah marshall, i am legend, be kind rewind, tropic thunder, pineapple express

books i read: every damn thing i got my hands on! best of the past year? definitely the nightwatch series, jen lancaster, new natsuo kirino, the time traveler’s wife
bands/albums discovered: cut copy, gavin rossdale-wanderlust, NERD-seeing sounds, british sea power, junior senior, b52s-funplex, serj tankian, lady sovereign-public warning, nine inch nails-ghosts, common-finding forever, linkin park-minutes to midnight, alica keys-as i am, feist, ladytron, band of horses-cease to begin, and so many more i can’t even think of them all. more music than you can shake a fist at!
states visited: colorado (family), illinois (work), tennessee (work), new york (work), new hampshire (play), maine (play)
not entirely a bad way to spend 25, you know… hopefully 26 only gets better.
