last night we went to see N.E.R.D. and Common at the orpheum. normally going to see a concert at that venue is like sitting in a toaster oven and slowly baking to death while you melt into your seat. even though it’s a highly entertaining toaster oven, i’ve been forced to leave a show before due to the completely unbearable environment.
last night karma decided we’ve suffered through enough uncomfortable venues and granted us with completely perfect seats next to an open door with a cool breeze blowing in. also: SO CLOSE TO PHARRELL WILLIAMS! SQUEE!
i can’t believe that it’s been five years since i last saw either of these groups. common, i saw in early early 2003, during a particularly turbulent period where i lived off of whiskey and cigarettes and music was my only salvation. N.E.R.D. i saw much later in that same year, one of the most fantastic things of a horrific year that i could not wait to put behind me as i rushed headlong into 2004.
five long years, man. but i have to say, entirely worth the wait.
