so, officially, i’ve completed two weeks at the new job. that’s two whole weeks away from my old job. and that’s roughly about how long it’s taken for me to not miss a single damn thing from it. oh, of course there are people i miss. and maybe a few things…but that’s it.
less than two weeks, actually — if you count snow days and holidays — and i’m already 100% for my new job and do not regret a single thing about leaving old job.
it was so beyond time.
plus, there was a weather snafu that resulted in me barely being at work today. and after leaving at 2:30 in the afternoon (!!!), i went to the pub down the street for a late lunch with the boy.
it was, in a word, splendid.

first week at new job: success!
impending three-day weekend: fuck yeah!
on one hand, i feel like i did a whole lot of FUCK ALL at work this week because i have no idea where anything is or what anything does and am such a total n00b right now. plus, it’s a gargantuan effort just not to pass the fuck out at my desk, so keeping my eyes open is an accomplishment at this juncture.
and, i totally had a snow day this week! it was both awesome and awful. i spent a good portion of this week passed the fuck out (damn schedule adjustments!) but hopefully i get the hang of it.
i work with really nice people, and every teacher/administrator i’ve met has been super nice. plus, i find the school system interesting (so far) and am really looking forward to tackling some of the upcoming projects.
plus, it’s not even 6:00 and i have been off work for HOURS now!
can’t complain about that!

today i actually had work, but i think i’m slowly starting to get the hang of it. at least the morning parts. get up, get ready, actually get proper ready even (hair, makeup, halfway decent clothes), and leave plenty of time to drive to work.
i like the drive, sure it’s mileage on the car, but what’s the point of having a car, you know?
it’s a decent drive and i have to say, it’s only been a handful of days and i completely DO NOT miss public transportation. the MBTA can suck my dick.
seriously, fuck you MBTA. fuck you hard.

on the one hand, motherfuckin’ snow day! on the other hand, i spent over an hour digging out my car. by the time i got all the way to route 9, i found an email that said i didn’t have to be in to work anyway. on the way back home a tree branch nearly fell on my car — instead it dumped all the snow in the world on my roof/windshield/hood and made me swerve like a motherfuck. the maintenance guys took my spot and i couldn’t fit anywhere, and the only open spot was completely full of snow. i got completely soaked (it was heavy, wet snow) and frozen. and nearly 4 hours after i actually got up, got ready and started trying to get to my new job, i was back in my nice warm bed.
a few hours later, the power went out.
it only came on around 4:00 ish.
so, for a snow day, it was kind of rather shit. but at least everything in the fridge didn’t spoil. i’m not looking forward to having to dig out my car again tomorrow, though. i’m super worried about that.
